Lepido exhaust heat exchanger
Lepido® is the source side exhaust heat exchanger within applicable ThermStar configurations. It was launched in Sweden in 2016 for demanding restaurant and commercial kitchen exhaust and later expanded to industrial service. The unit is intended for applications where contaminants or moisture can make conventional recovery equipment difficult to maintain.
Particle Repellent Geometry
The patented geometry uses staggered tubes and open airflow pathways without dense fins, so material carries on through the unit rather than collecting and progressively restricting the passage.
Staggered, not stacked
Tubes sit offset from the row behind them. Air changes direction around each one without meeting a narrowing gap, which is what a fin pack presents.
No fins at all
Nothing closely spaced for grease or lint to bridge. The surface a particle could stick to is a round tube, and the airstream is already pulling it off.
Transfer area preserved
The open design keeps the heat transfer area of a conventional coil by using 100% counter-current flow and multiple fluid circuits rather than more surface.
Pressure that stays put
Resistance is a design figure rather than a number that climbs. That is what protects the process producing the exhaust, not just the recovery project.
Application range
Depending on approved operating conditions, Lepido can support lint and dust exhaust heat recovery in laundry and manufacturing, greasy exhaust energy recovery in kitchens, and high humidity exhaust heat recovery in food or process environments.
Every application requires review because contaminant type, concentration, temperature, airflow, cleaning practices, and facility requirements vary.
Industrial air to water heat exchanger design
As an industrial air to water heat exchanger, the heat recovery unit transfers thermal energy from exhaust to fluid circulating through the ThermStar loop. The fluids do not mix. This architecture allows the recovered energy to travel to a separate HeatCore Hx™ delivery unit serving a suitable air, water, boiler, or process demand.
Stable performance objective
An exhaust gas heat recovery system must protect the process that produces the exhaust. Excess pressure drop, restricted airflow, or frequent cleaning can weaken the operating and economic case. Lepido is designed to support particle passage, stable airflow, and sustained heat recovery with minimal added mechanical complexity. Specific performance depends on the selected unit, system configuration, and approved conditions.
Part of a flexible offering
Customers and partners may evaluate Lepido as a component or as part of a complete ThermStar configuration with delivery equipment, controls, monitoring, and related support. Request an Assessment to determine whether the exhaust characteristics and available heat demand justify a technical review.
Can a Lepido exhaust heat exchanger be retrofitted to existing equipment
Yes, an existing facility can be evaluated when access, routing, controls, operating schedules, and tie in requirements are practical. The customer and its qualified project team determine the complete retrofit scope. ThermStar supports the approved recovery equipment and system interfaces defined for the project.
Can one Lepido unit supply more than one delivery load
Potentially. A configuration may consider one or more receiving loads when their temperatures, capacities, schedules, locations, and control needs align with the available source. ThermStar evaluates the combined operating case before recommending an arrangement.
How is Lepido heat recovery performance determined
Performance depends on measured or confirmed source conditions, useful demand, operating overlap, equipment selection, control behavior, and installed conditions. Available sensors and monitoring can document temperatures, flow, status, operating time, and calculated thermal energy according to the approved method.
Is Lepido suitable for every particle-laden exhaust stream
No. Exhaust composition, concentration, temperature, humidity, pressure constraints, cleaning practices, materials, safety requirements, and facility standards must be reviewed. ThermStar confirms applicability against current approved technical information before proposing equipment.
Is Lepido a new technology
No. Lepido® was launched in Sweden in 2016 and has been operating in commercial and industrial facilities in Europe since then. The ThermStar System™ brings it to North America, together with ThermStar™ Power Intelligence monitoring.
