ABOUT THERMSTAR™

ThermStar™ brings proven heat recovery technology and integrated thermal energy solutions to commercial and industrial customers across North America.

Our story

From a Swedish kitchen roof to North American FACILITIES

Lepido® was invented in Sweden in 2016 to recover energy from demanding commercial kitchen exhaust. The technology expanded into industrial applications in 2021, including food production, industrial laundry, foundries, manufacturing, and other particulate-laden processes. In 2025, ThermStar™ brought the technology to North America.

  1. 2016 Lepido Launched in Sweden Built for restaurant and commercial kitchen exhaust, where grease and moisture overwhelmed conventional exchangers.
  2. 2021 Into industry Food production, industrial laundry, foundries, manufacturing and other high-fouling processes.
  3. 2025 North America Norrel Inc. launches the ThermStar System for the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Leadership

Leadership

Scott Preston has spent more than 30 years leading businesses and operations across food processing, chemical manufacturing, mining, and industrial services. Across those industries, he repeatedly saw valuable thermal energy being exhausted from facilities after companies had already paid to produce it.

He founded ThermStar™ around a straightforward idea: recover that energy and put it back to work. The result is lower purchased energy, lower operating costs, and reduced emissions.

Heat in an exhaust plume is energy that has already been purchased and produced.

Our logo

Four elements, one mission

Our logo is more than a symbol, it is a statement of purpose. Each element supports the other, forming an efficient and self-sustaining clean energy cycle.

  1. Air Harmony in Motion The three elegant waves at the base symbolize air. Controlled, balanced, and essential, it reflects the quiet precision of airflow within the system.
  2. Fire Reclaiming Clean Heat At the center burns a green flame shaped like a leaf. This represents the heart of ThermStar: recovering waste heat and transforming it into reusable heat energy.
  3. Water Closed-Loop Circulation The circular arrow represents water, our brine circuit. Like nature, it flows continuously, ensuring thermal efficiency and sustainability.
  4. Earth Restorative and Renewable Hidden within the flame is a leaf, our nod to the Earth. It reflects our commitment to cleaner, greener energy solutions rooted in sustainability.
